On untreated wood you do not have to be as careful as with painted wood so use the following methods:

Nail polish remover

 Make sure that the nail polish remover does not contain acetone. This could possibly lead to slight to severe discoloration on the wood.

  1. Simply remove glue from untreated wood even with emery paper. 
  2. If you don’t have one at hand, a steel sponge serves the same purpose.
  3. You can also do this work with steel wool. 
  4. Depending on the type of wood and age of the wood and the value of the wood, you can also use coarse steel wool here.

Acetone

If the stain is small, put a little acetone on a cloth, rub, this product should remove the stain without damaging the varnish and the wood.

Baking Soda

  • Cover the stain with several sheets of absorbent paper
  • Then pass the iron, paying attention to the temperature, it must be hot enough to soften and liquefy the stain without burning the paper which will absorb the glue.

Remove Dried Glue from Varnished Wood

Lukewarm water

Start by scraping the stain to remove excess glue. Warning: you must remain delicate so as not to scratch the varnish. Then take a cloth soaked in lukewarm water and gently dab the glue. It will soften and you can easily remove it.

Cooking oil

The White-Spirit or Mineral Spirits

This is the last product to try if you have not been able to remove the glue with the other methods. You will also need a triple zero steel wool. 

You soak it liberally with White-Spirit and rub. 

This process is very practical when it comes to cleaning large surfaces, the shelves of a cabinet having been covered with adhesive vinyl for example. 

There is no incompatibility between the varnish and the White-Spirit, so it is risk-free.
