Terms of Sale
Last updated: November 2, 2026
These terms apply when you buy Start Woodworking Now: From First Cut to First Furniture (“the Book”) or Start Woodworking Now: Complete Workshop Bundle (“the Bundle”) through startwoodworkingnow.com. Please read them before you buy.
1. Who sells the products
The seller is Adrian Tapu, a private individual based in Romania, who wrote and publishes Start Woodworking Now (“I”, “me”).
Address: Costea Voda 20, Valea Adanca, Romania
Email: adrian@startwoodworkingnow.com
2. How the purchase works
The “Get the book” and “Get the bundle” buttons open a checkout page hosted by Payhip (Payhip Ltd, United Kingdom), the platform I use to sell and deliver the files. Payments are processed by Stripe. I never see your full card details. You can pay by card and, where your device and country support them, with Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link or other methods shown at checkout. The charge appears on your statement as STARTWOODWORKING.
Taxes. For buyers in the EU and the UK, Payhip acts as a reseller for VAT purposes: it charges the VAT of your country and pays it to the tax authorities. For buyers in the United States, Payhip collects and pays sales tax as a marketplace facilitator. Where tax applies, it is added on top of the price and shown before you pay.
Your order is confirmed when the payment goes through. Payhip then sends you a receipt by email. The products, the license (section 6) and the money-back guarantee (section 7) come from me. Your use of the Payhip checkout and download page is also covered by Payhip’s terms and privacy policy.
3. The products
The Book: the ebook as a PDF and an EPUB file, the Workshop Planner (a printable PDF) and the Lumber Cheat Card (an image for your phone).
Complete Workshop Bundle: everything in the Book, plus the Next Builds Plans Pack (five project plans) and Finishing Recipes (twelve one-page finish schedules) as PDF files, and 3D models of all ten builds: an online 3D viewer (the link is in the “START HERE” PDF included in the Bundle) and SketchUp, STEP and Collada (.dae) files to download.
All products are digital downloads; nothing is shipped. You need a device that can open PDF and EPUB files, and a current web browser for the 3D viewer. The product page describes what each package contains, and the pages shown there are real pages from the files.
Updates. When I publish a corrected or improved edition of a file you bought, you can download it free from the same download page. Bundle buyers also get, free, any new plans I add to the Plans Pack. I don’t promise dates or a number of future updates.
The 3D viewer is hosted on this website. If I ever have to stop hosting it, I will tell Bundle buyers by email at least 30 days before; the CAD files you downloaded are yours to keep.
4. Prices, launch offer and upgrade
Prices are in US dollars. Sales tax or VAT is added at checkout where it applies, depending on where you live.
Launch offer: until November 30, 2026, the Book costs $19 and the Complete Workshop Bundle $34. From December 1, 2026 the prices are $24 and $39. The Bundle price may go up again when I add new plans; a price change never affects an order you have already placed.
Upgrade: if you bought the Book, you can upgrade to the Complete Workshop Bundle for the $15 difference (plus any sales tax or VAT) within 30 days of your purchase. The upgrade offer appears in your receipt email and on your download page.
Gifts: at checkout you can tick “Give as a gift” and enter the recipient’s name and email. The recipient gets the files by email right after you pay. The license (section 6) then belongs to the recipient, and a refund (section 7) goes back to the person who paid.
5. Delivery
Right after payment you see your download page, and you get an email with the same download links. Save that email: you can download again from it later. Your download links allow up to 10 downloads; if you reach the limit or a link doesn’t work, email me and I’ll reset it or send the files.
6. Your license
When you buy, you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the files. You may:
- download the files, keep backup copies and read them on all of your own devices;
- print pages for your own use, and copy the blank forms in the Workshop Planner as often as you like for your own projects;
- build the projects and keep, give away or sell the physical pieces you make;
- use the 3D models and CAD files to look at, plan and change the projects for your own builds.
You may not share, resell, sublicense, upload or publish the files (including the 3D models, the CAD files and the link to the 3D viewer), or pass them on in any other way, in whole or in part, without my written permission. You may not remove the copyright notices. Quoting short passages with a credit, for a review or a discussion, is fine.
7. Refund policy: 30-day money-back guarantee
No conditions and no reason needed. Email adrian@startwoodworkingnow.com within 30 days of your purchase, with your order number or the email you used at checkout, and I will refund the full price, including any tax you paid, to your original payment method.
I issue the refund through Stripe; your bank usually shows the money back within 5 to 10 business days.
You don’t have to send the files back, but after a refund your license ends and you agree to delete the files. A refund of the Bundle covers the whole Bundle. Each order (the Book, the Bundle or an upgrade) can be refunded within 30 days of that order.
This guarantee is a voluntary promise from me and comes on top of the rights you have by law (section 8). If you dispute a payment with your bank instead, please email me first: a refund from me is faster for you.
8. Your legal rights, including the EU/UK right of withdrawal
Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under the consumer law of the country where you live.
If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from an online purchase. For digital content delivered immediately, that right ends once the download starts, provided that you asked for immediate delivery at checkout, acknowledged that you would lose the right, and received a confirmation of this. At checkout you confirm this with a required statement, and your answer is repeated in your receipt email. If any of this did not happen, the 14-day right still applies. To withdraw, send me a clear statement by email. Either way, the 30-day money-back guarantee (section 7) applies.
The files must also match their description and work as described. If a file is faulty or incomplete, tell me: I will fix it or, if I can’t, refund you. This is your legal right for digital content, in addition to the guarantee.
9. Safety and the nature of the content
The products teach woodworking for educational purposes. Woodworking involves sharp tools, power tools and finishing chemicals, and carries a real risk of injury and fire. Always read and follow your tools’ manuals and the finish makers’ labels, use the protective equipment the book describes, work within your own skill level, and follow local codes when you mount anything to a wall or build something that carries weight.
Results depend on your tools, materials, skill and care. Measure your own materials before you cut, because real lumber sizes vary. The 3D models show the parts and how they fit together; they leave out screws, nails, pocket holes and hardware and are not engineering drawings, so follow the written plan for fastening and assembly. The content is not professional, engineering or medical advice.
10. Liability
I prepared the products with care and checked the numbers in them against their sources, but I can’t guarantee that every piece of information is complete and error-free for every situation. To the extent the law allows, my total liability to you for any claim about a product is limited to the amount you paid for it, and I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for harm to life, body or health, for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer protection law.
11. Copyright and trademarks
The text, drawings, plans and layouts are protected by copyright. © 2026 Adrian Tapu. Product and brand names mentioned in the products are trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify products; no endorsement is implied.
12. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms, for example when the products or prices change. The version published on the day of your purchase applies to that purchase.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Romanian law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts of that country.
If something goes wrong, please email me first; most problems are solved quickly that way. You can also contact the consumer protection authority in your country. Consumers in Romania can use ANPC’s out-of-court dispute resolution service (SAL): anpc.ro/ce-este-sal.
If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest stays in force.
